Former Heads of MI5 & CPS Say War on Drugs Has Failed

coke.jpgA group of eminent figures, including the former heads of MI5, CPS, and BBC, have declared the war on drugs to be a failure.

The new All-Party Parliamentary Group on Drug Policy Reform seeks to reform UK drug legislation based on sound scientific evidence.

From the Daily Telegraph:

Their intervention could receive a sympathetic audience in Whitehall, where ministers and civil servants are trying to cut the numbers and cost of the prison population. The Justice Secretary, Ken Clarke, has already announced plans to help offenders kick drug habits rather than keeping them behind bars.
